Reasons People Earn Distance Learning Degree Online

There are many reasons why someone would want to earn a college degree through distance learning. The one that is given the most often would probably have to be convenience. Taking college courses on a campus these days can certainly be difficult for many people, and distance learning makes it possible.

On their Website, the Palm Beach State University lists five of the main reasons given by their online learning students. The first one is "Limited Transportation." This makes a lot of sense these days with gas being considerably higher than it was just two years ago. Saving on gas by taking classes for your university degree online saves money and lowers the cost of your education.

A second reason given on the Website is because some people are disabled and cannot enroll in regular campus programs. Getting around a school in a wheelchair, or with some other physical problem can be entirely avoided by taking your class online. Some colleges also let students take their classes when they are able.

The third and fourth reasons deal with those who travel a lot for their employment and those who are simply limited in time. Thanks to the Internet, students are now able to go online and study for their degree program at any level, and get an online Masters Degrees, including an online MBA, and even an online PhD. They also can take their classes at their own pace and study at any hour.

The last reason is childcare. Having to find and pay for a babysitter can be difficult, expecially if you have to do it a few times a week. With online education, however, you can even wait until the children are in bed to break out your laptop and go online to work on your online courses. Distance learning lets you save money on an even bigger scale.

It should also be added that the same Webpage also mentions that 70% of their students are women over the age of 29. Obviously, distance learning is helping them to get the college degrees they could not have obtained another way.
