More Ways Online Courses Are Being Used Today
Schools at all levels are turning to methods other than the traditional classroom situation. While budget cuts at the state and local levels are forcing this to occur, the tightness of wallets is also seen from donations and scholarships, too. The use of online classes, however, has expanded way beyond the college classroom. Here are some ways that distance learning technology is being put to use today.
While online courses are now common among college students, it is also expanding into lower levels, too. Now many high schools are offering courses online, and even some elementary classes use it, too.
Business is also using it in a bigger and bigger way. Many businesses are now offering online classes in place of in-house training meetings. This frees up more work time and allows for more professional recordings, and even the use of third party materials. Jason Cox, a writer, adds that the "benefits of distance learning are that it is a cost-effective way to train a widely dispersed workforce, saving on travel expenses and time away from work."
The military uses it, too, quite successfully. Military personnel often take online courses in order to get promotions, or to prepare for civilian life outside. Tens of thousands of active and reserve troops are enrolled and often can even complete degrees through online degree programs.
