Accreditation
The best online universities have been given accreditation from an independent organization. Check if a school is included in the U.S. Department of Education's list of accredited institutions. If an online university claims to be certified by a certain organization, you can verify it with the "Search by Accrediting Body" tab. Or you can check with the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

The online university you choose must also meet your own educational needs. Look for reviews prepared by good online education websites.
